Mandi Christine Kerr Interview
The fans are everything.
- Hello Mandi Christine Kerr and thank you for your time for the Fans.
Thank you so much for having me! The Walking Dead fans are the absolute best.
- Mandi , When was the time you know you want to be an actress?
I always was a daydreamer as a kid. I would play pretend for hours and hours in my own little world. I also would get consumed with the movies and characters in them. I just wanted to crawl into The Little Mermaid and grow a tail! It really wasn’t until high school that I knew I wanted to be an actress, though. I found a deep belonging in the theatre. I went on to go to college for acting and directing.
- 2015 you got cast for The Walking Dead. How did you get cast?
My agent sent me the audition. It was a really quick one that I taped myself for. I think I got the call a couple days later that they wanted me to play the role.
- You worked in over 20 episodes. Which character did you play?
I play Barbara. She is a mother in Alexandria. I loved that their community was mostly protected from the apocalypse that was unfolding outside the walls. So at first, every time these people saw a walker it was shocking! It was a stark difference from what our leads had experienced up until this point.
- What is the first what you remember when you look back on set from The Walking Dead ?
The first thing I think about is family. I have never been on such a warm set. We really considered each other family; cast and crew alike.
- With a role in TWD Universe comes a Big Fan Community, what are your first The Walking Dead fan experiences?
After the first few episodes came out, I went to pick up my dry cleaning and the lady working there was smiling and stuttering. I was so confused. Then she asked me if I was from the show. I had never experienced that before. It felt really special to be part of something that made people excited like that.
- Working with the Main Cast of TWD will be a dream of many Fans, how was it for yourself?
My first day I thought I was dreaming. I was a huge fan before I joined the cast so it was really weird to be in the same room as everyone. I will say everyone was even more incredible on a human level. I am so grateful to have met them and learned from them.
- Mandi, you also work in many other Projects like Ghost Witch , Rectify , Satisfaction and many more. Whats your personal Highlight so far?
I think my personal highlight recently was going back to work, and after being at home and raising kids for many years I picking up right where I left off. Sometimes I wonder if I’ll just randomly forget how to act when I step away. But I am proud that I have a beautiful family and now am working hard on my career again too.
- You also worked as Hybrid in The Vampire Diaries. Something you can share about this series with us?
They shoot ALOT at night. That is really hard on everyone. It was also shot in the Georgia woods just like The Walking Dead.
- Is there any dream role or actor/actress you would loved to work in the future?
I think Adam Driver is one of the best actors of our time. I would love to working with him. My favorite actress is Nicole Kidman. She is so vulnerable. I would die if I ever got a chance to be in the same project as her.
- Is there anything else you would like to let TWD Fans and your fans know?
Thank you for your support. None of this work can be made without the viewers. The fans are everything.
- Thank you being my guest Mandi Christine Kerr and best wishes for the future. I hope to see you one day in Germany.
German is on my bucket list!! I hope to be there someday soon.
