Karin Hinton Interview
Take me back! I miss it and all the incredible people I met during filming

- Hello Karin Hinton and thank you for your time for the Fans.

Good morning,  thank you for having me!

- Karin ,When was the time you knew you wanted to be an actress?

I wanna say for as long as I can think. I joined theater groups at school, after school I was part of a little local group where we performed different stage plays, as well as murder mysteries at restaurants. And I really really love dressing up, especially for Halloween.

- How did you get cast for the series Fear the Walking Dead?

Very funny story.

Our casting agency, which I didn’t know at that time, was reaching out to a Facebook group for Germans in our area.

They were looking for people to play German residents at a hotel on Fear The Walking Dead. I didn’t think it was legit, but my friend Sabine , who is obviously also German, applied and found out it indeed was legit. She didn’t want to go alone, so I submitted as well. Since I was a fan of The Walking Dead and Fear The Walking Dead anyway, I was very excited when they told me I’m in.

- How was the moment you realize that you in the show?

Honestly, I really started  realizing what’s going on when I first entered the hotel set and Colman Domingo walked by. I was literally starstruck.

Throughout the six months I was working on that show, I had a lot of these moments where I just stood there, smiling from ear to ear like an idiot, holding back tears, thinking ‘who would’ve thought that little old me from Germany would stand on a big set like this working on a show that I adore. Is this real?’

- Which role did you play?

I started out as a German resident, played several Walkers throughout the months and came back as a German survivor to fight at Padre at the end.

- Working with the Main Cast will be a dream of so many fans. How was your time with the Main Cast?

I had a great time! You know how Germans are, we like to follow rules. Since it was not allowed to approach the actors and talk to them unless they would start a conversation with you first, I probably missed out on a lot of opportunities. But I had a great time with Isha Blaaker, who borrowed me his jacket when we were getting rained on, Colman Domingo, who we taught to say bad German words, and the wonderful Rubén Blades, we joked a lot together and my highlight was certainly being able to take a picture with him!

- Karin ,Did you get "killed" in FTWD?

I sure did, but only as a Walker.

My German Character survived!

- With a role in FTWD comes a Big Fan Community, what are your first The Walking Dead fan experiences?

Most fun was when we were filming around public places, and we had to cross the street to get to our shuttle bus, people just stopped and stared,  we used to wave at them, they could take pictures, good times.

- Looking back working on Fear The walking Dead....?

Take me back! I miss it and all the incredible people I met during filming. A lot of us became real life friends and we always look forward to see each other on different sets.

- Is there any dream role or actor/actress you would loved to work in the future?

Honestly, I think it would be awesome to get a role that has to do with riding horses, since I am an equestrian.

- Is there anything else you would like to let TWD Fans and your fans know?

If you ever get a chance to do something like me, don’t hesitate and do it. You will probably have the time of your life!

- Thank you for being my guest Karin Hinton and best wishes for the future. I hope to see you one day back in Germany.

Thank you for having me, this was fun! And I will let you know when I get back at some point to

visit my family!
