Brandon Fobbs Interview
The first thing I remember was how great everybody was on the set.

Hello Brandon Fobbs and thank you for your time for the Fans of WearetheWalkingDead.de.

- Brandon , When was the time you know you want to be an actor?
In 1993 when I was an early teen, me and a friend were watching pulp fiction. The scene with Samuel Jackson and John Travolta in the apartment with the college kids. Me and my friend were laughing so hard at that scene and then all of a sudden like a light switch being flipped on, I said that’s what I wanna do.

- You worked in two of my Favorite series. "The Walking Dead". How did you get cast?
I was all auditioning for a Tv Show that use the same casting director from The Walking Dead, and she mentioned to me that she enjoyed another film that I was in with Cuba Gooding Jr. called “The devil‘s tomb.” I was surprised that she saw it. Then she told me “oh yeah, I watched all that kind of Sci Fi stuff because I cast shows like The Walking Dead.” And that’s where my ears perked up. I quickly let her know that The Walking Dead was definitely one of my favorite shows. So later on that week or month, after the trailer for the first episode of season four came on I came back to her office with some flowers and  said great job on the casting for the show, and remember The Walking Dead is my favorite show.
So later while I was on an HBO show called Getting On, I got a call from my agent telling me that I had an audition for The Walking Dead. I was super excited.
And while I did do a great job on my audition, the cast director definitely helped me when she asked me how much did I weigh, but she couldn’t tell me why she was asking that. I accidentally said 160 pounds at first and then I changed it to a different way that I actually was. She stopped the camera and said go back and say what she said the first time. So I said it and we went ahead with that audition. Later I found out I got the role.

- Which role did you play in the series?
My role was Terry. The best friend of Michonne’s boyfriend whom she had her son with. That would be season four episode nine.

- Working in TWD Universe, What is the first what you remember when you look back on set?
The first thing I remember was how great everybody was on the set. It was like being a part of a family. So many of the crew people elevated from one position to a higher one on the show. And I also remember having a great talk with Greg Nicotero. The funniest thing about that was he thought he had to explain some of the show to me. I quickly let him know that I knew everything about the show. That’s when he introduced me too one of the special effects guys that took me into the warehouse to see all of the prosthetics. That was amazing. Then I took a picture with Lauren Cohen. And I sat down and ate lunch with Andy Lincoln, and the young man who played Carl. Chandler, I think his name is. And even they were so great and nice. I asked if I could take a picture with him, but he was in make up and had to honor the secrecy of the show. I totally understood that.

- What do you think has been the key to this show’s success and why have people responded to it like they have?
In the early seasons of the show, I believe that the success truly came from the overarching curiosity that so many people have with an apocalyptic situation. Match that with the excellent writing, that carried so many double entendres and metaphors for the lives we live outside of an apocalyptic era. Between the drama of Shane and Lori and Rick, and the people we meet along the way like Herschel and the family on the farm, the show was so rich with different walks of life, all being tied together by this disaster that they all had to deal with. And at the middle of it all was how did they maintain humanity in the world that forced inhumane behavior. And it kept bringing out the most attractive question in your own mind, which would be “what would I do if I was in the situation?”

- Here’s a fun little hypothetical for you.How would you fare in a zombie apocalypse?
It’s funny you should ask? Most of my friends say that if something like that happen, they would be coming to my house. Because I’m in the creative arts field, my mind is open to all kinds of possibilities in this world. So although I am not a full fledged prepper, my mind set keeps me somewhat prepared for possible emergencies in our lives. So I’d say I’m a lightweight prepper, but I do pretty well at solving problems.

Do you have any interesting or funny stories from your time on the set?
Mainly the one about Greg Nicotero, thinking he had to fill me in on who my character was, or who any of the characters were. I think I said something to him like, “you can stop right there. I know everything that I need to know about these characters.“ I told him I watch the show. And one of the most amazing, or interesting things would be how this field of acting allowed me to find myself sitting down and eating lunch with one of the heroes of my favorite show.

 - Brandon , you also work over the Years in 3 differnt NCIS Series. Is there something you can share with us?
There’s nothing necessarily special to share about that. It just so happens that I’ve been able to book a role on three of the NCIS shows. That would be NCIS, NCIS New Orleans, and NCIS Hawaii. It was really just an awesome blessing to be able to do that. There were many times I was trying to get onto NCIS Los Angeles. But I didn’t make it before it was taken off the air.

- You worked in so many series and movies, whats is your personal Highlight so far Brandon?
This whole acting business has been a blessing from God for me! The fact that I’ve been able to work on movies and TV shows, and not just any TV show, but some of the most iconic ones in history is nothing short of a miracle. From being Hbo‘s the wire to HBO‘s Getting On, to NCIS to The Walking Dead. And then to having been able to work with Terrance, Howard and Bernie Mac on the movie Pride, and then the movie This Christmas, I’d have to say my personal highlight would be a tie between a movie I did called 1968 tunnel rats where I got to travel to South Africa to play a Vietnam soldier and the movie I mentioned earlier called the Devil’s Tomb that I did with Cuba Gooding Junior. Check it out if you get a chance. It had zombies in it too. And I love me some zombies. Lol.

- Is there anything else you would like to let TWD Fans and your fans know?
I would love them to know that I am working on creating some of my own content as well as working on re-branding myself, and coming back out to the world with my talent in a different way. I’d love them all to stay tuned and follow me as things progress.

- That's a perfect way to end! I can tell you that the fans at WeareTheWalkingDead.de are really excited about this show and Thank you taking the time for me.
Thank you so much for reaching out and even considering my part in the iconic show worthy of his great interview. I appreciate your patience and all the work you’ve done.
Cheers
