Jimmy Chimarios Interview

1) When was the time you wanted to be an actor?

I got the itch in grade 4 when I did a play called "The Trial of the Big Bad Wolf". I played the role of the bailiff. The exact moment was when I called one of the arguing big a pompous big which made the audience laugh hysterically. The reaction of the laughing crowd felt surreal. However as life would have it that memory was forgotten as I a grew up until the age of 28 when a series of life events, some good some bad, sent me back to my true calling.

2) You worked in some episodes in Star Trek Picard, Discovery, Section 31. Could you share some funny, remarkable, weird stories regarding the filming of your scenes?

I think the most memorable moments are the ones where you are doing scene beside and incredible actor who is world renowned and you come to find they are one of the most humble humans you've ever come across. Doug Jones, Sonequa Martin Green, Michelle Yeoh, Patrick Stewart (to name a few) were incredible to work alongside. The other point I'd like to make is the amount of technology used to make these shows as futuristic and real as possible. I think if the average Star Trek fan knew just how much work, intelligence, knowledge and technology went into making some of these movies and episodes they would be just as intrigued with the making of the shows and movies as they would with the shows and movies themselves.

3) Were you a Star Trek before you got cast for the show?

No I was not. That changed quickly after I did Discovery. I had a very small "blink and you miss it" role on Discovery. My characters name was Troke and I ended up dying when we got attacked by the Klingons in the second episode. Let me tell you, the fan outreach over social media was just incredible. That's when I knew Star Trek Fans were some of the most loyal, enthusiastic, supportive fans in the world. They new more about my character then I did lol. NEVER CHANGE STAR TREK FANS!

4) With Star Trek comes a big fan community. Did you have some experience with Trekkie fans?

Yes. I can elaborate on my previous answer if you like. Although my character was not a significant part of the show, his death still had an effect on a number of the "Trekkies". I can attest to this as I have the tweets, Instagram and FB messages to prove it lol. The experience was always pleasant with the fans and their reactions and comments were all heartfelt but again what this showed me was the loyalty and attention to detail the fans would have for the Star Trek franchise. Its a beautiful relationship the fans have with the franchise.

5) 60 years of Star Trek - What stands out most in your memory working on Star Trek?

I think what stands out the most about working on Star Trek is the opportunity to just be able to be a small part of something so special. Star Treks universal message being that, humanity (and sentient life in general) is capable of rising above its worst impulses, evolving into something better, and building a future worth aspiring to, is something that I think resonates with many people. The importance of this message is worth recognizing. Having been a small part of this message is a blessing for me. I think 60 years of Star Trek and an incredible fanbase proves the importance of this message and the need to keep sharing it for 60 more years.

6) You also work in series and movies like "Pompeii", "Pacific Rim", "Robo Cop", "Star Trek and many more. What's your personal highlight so far.

It's impossible for me to give you one specific example but I will share with you an important realization that I have come to experience. I've worked with some of the most talented, creative people on the planet and I've come to realize that, truly, the journey is the reward. The creative process, the team work , the collaboration with like minds is just as joyful as the final product, movie or TV show. This is why I always try and enjoy every minute of every day whether on set or in life because whether on set or in life we are always creating something special. Enjoy the creation process!

7) What is Agapi Productions?

Agapi Productions is my own production company! Yes I also make my own movies and theatre productions as well lol. The project that I am working on right now is called DIMITRI GOES TO HOLLYWOOD. Its a romantic comedy about a 40 year old olive harvester from a little village in Greece who goes on his childhood dream of becoming soap opera star in Los Angeles.

The script was written 4 years ago and was actually optioned by a production company to become a movie but due to creative differences I withdrew from the negotiation process and ended up turning DIMITRI GOES TO HOLLYWOOD into a successful theatre show. That success has led me into being able to turn it again into an independent film! We are in the funding phase at the moment with some really good stars attached. Some of the actors involved have actually been on Star Trek as well! That's the most I can say without you signing an NDA lol. You can follow me on social media for updates @agapiproductionsinc and @jimmychimarios on Instagram and FB if you like. Or www.dimitrigoestohollywood.com if anyone wants to help fund the film they can reach out on our official website here!

8) Is there something special you would love to do in the future? A special role or actor to work with?

Another good question. I'm always looking forward to the creative process not so much specifically with a single person or project. I think one of the greatest attributes this industry has is the element of surprise. You never know who you're going to be working with or what you're going to be doing. I really enjoy these surprises lol. Going back to your question, now that I have my own project, DIMITRI GOES TO HOLLYWOOD, I'm literally living my dream and doing what I love on my own. I'm excited to see the wonderful people and places I'll be working with and experiencing and most of all bringing a movie to life that will make others laugh and inspire to follow their dreams!

9) Some words for the fans.

THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU! Without fans like Star Trek fans there wouldn't be a Star Trek. Also be vocal, tell us what you like and what you don't like! These forums and groups are very important.

On a personal level, there is nothing stopping you from creating your own "Star Trek" franchise. Whether it be a movie, a TV show or a restaurant. If you have something in your heart that you would like to create just go and create it. Do the research to see what the next logical step would be, then one step at a time, one day at a time it will all come together. Just take the first step. You're good enough! God Bless you all!!
