Eleanor Reissa Interview
People were writing about how sad they were that Esther, The Pigeon Lady got killed

- Hello Eleanor Reissa and thank you for your time for the Fans.

I'm delighted to be asked, so thank you back!

- Eleanor , When was the time you know you want to be an actress?

I enjoyed acting in made up little skits as a child and then reading plays out loud in the early grades.  But it was not until I was in university and found myself wanting to do political street theatre that I began actually performing in front of people. But it was a political act, not about a career.

- 2023 you got cast for The Walking Dead - Dead City. How did you get cast as Esther?

My agents got me an audition for Esther.  I didn't really think I would get it!

- What is the first what you remember when you look back on set from The Walking Dead Dead City?

It was still Covid days.  Our shoot began early in the morning in a lot in New Jersey and we all had to be tested first.  The set was incredible; it was in like a garage/warehouse and the designer really made it look horribly perfect.

- With a role in TWD Universe comes a Big Fan Community, what are your first The Walking Dead fan experiences?

People were writing about how sad they were that Esther, The Pigeon Lady got killed.  They really wanted to see more of her. That cheered me up.  I wanted to see more of her too.  People really liked her and that made me feel great.

- Working with the Main Cast of TWD DC will be a dream of many Fans, how was it for yourself?

It was indeed a dream.  The two leads, Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morton) and Maggie (Lauren Cohen) were so so nice to me.  It was great working with them and then hanging out with them during the shoot.  Not only terrific actors but really nice people.

- Eleanor , you also work in many other Projects like Trophy Kids , For Life , The Plot Against America and many more. Whats your personal Highlight so far?

I loved doing Plot Against America.  It was an important piece of work by Philip Roth and very relevant for the times we live in.

- 2024 we will see you in "The Zweifler" as Lilka Zweifler. Something you can share about this series with us?

This is the best piece of work I have ever been in and have ever done.  It was an honor to be a part of this family; the writers, directors, fellow actors, designers, crew - everyone - was a joy and all working to make this family live.  It is currently streaming in Germany.  I can't wait for it to be seen in the United States and around the world.  I look forward to filming season two, which is hopefully in the works.

- Is there any dream role or actor/actress you would loved to work in the future?

It's funny. I don't really like to project into the future.  I find that things happen, unimaginable things happen, and I just need to be loose and relaxed and open.  So, at this point, every role is a dream role, otherwise I don't do it.  And in terms of who I would like to work with - oh my goodness - there are too many people to list.  But I look forward!

- Is there anything else you would like to let TWD Fans and your fans know?

This autumn, I shot a small role in the German film "22 Bahnen" based on the best seller, so I look forward to fans seeing that.  Also I may do a concert or two in Germany this summer.

And I have written a memoir called THE LETTERS PROJECT: A Daugther's Journey.  It is a story of my father mostly who, like Esther, was a fighter and lived through the horror of Auschwitz.  I do the audio book of the memoir, in case fans would like to hear the book.

And I am thankful and grateful to all the fans for staying in touch and watching!
