John Gettier Interview - My new dream is to be introduced as “Nova” from the comics

- Hello John Gettier and thank you for your time for the Fans.

- John , When was the time you knew you wanted to be an actor?

I knew I wanted to be an actor ever since I was a little kid watching some of my favorite actors on tv but when I got into theater and stage acting it really made me want to persue an acting career.

- Since 2017 you worked in one of my Favorite series. "The Walking Dead" How did you get cast ?

Before being cast I seen a post saying they were looking for firefighters who were comfortable standing close to a real fire and beings that I had experience being a firefighter / EMT I submit, not knowing I was submitting for The Walking Dead, I got an email back welcoming me to the show.

- You played over the years different characters ,Walker ,Commonwealth Prisoner , Alexandria Resident , Militia. What was your personal favorite and why?

Out of all of those I would have to say being a part of the Militia was my favorite. I got brothers and sisters, friendships that i will have for the rest of my life, here’s a fun fact, we called ourselves Roger’s Rangers, we got our name from our PA (production assistant) and we even have patches with a red clover on it which can be seen in various episodes after the Militia were established.

- From Season 8 - 11 you had spot´s in 11 episodes in the series. What is the first thing that you remember when you look back on set?

The first thing I remember is the feeling I got being able to drive into the studio, past security, greet and be greeted by my friends and coworkers then change into my apocalypse attire with hopes to survive another day on the show.

- With a role in TWD comes a Big Fan Community, what are your first The Walking Dead fan experiences?

My first experiences were having fans write me and add me on social media, some would greet me in Senoia and ask for a picture,  I’ve even signed the hood of a fans car along with other cast members.

- There are so many series you worked in ( TWD , Stranger Things ,Ozark , The Falcon and the Winter Soldier.....) What was your personal series highlight so far?

That is a really difficult one for me to answer because I loved all of them but I’ve been a Marvel fan for as long as I could remember so being cast in anything comic-book related and working with Ironman, Spiderman, Captain America is an indescribable feeling.

- John, you also worked in Blockbuster like "Bad Boys for Life" with Will Smith or "John Wick 3" with Keanu Reeves . Something you can share with us about filming these Movies?

Unfortunately Bad Boys for Life was only a day of filming but did get to meet and work with Will Smith and Martin Lawrence. John Wick 3 was another one of my favorite things to work on, I got to play an assassin in a high speed motorcycle fight.

- What will we see next from you? Any projects/movies/series?

I have a quite a few things going on in the new year, I will be portraying a US Navy submarine captain by the name of Slade Cutter on a tv series call Hell Below airing on the Smithsonian channel, I’m also going to be working on a Naked Gun spoof movie and a few indy / film festival movies.

- Is there any dream role or actor/actress you would love to work in the future?

My dream role would honestly be working as main cast on a tv series. My new dream is to be introduced as “Nova” from the comics.

- Is there anything else you would like to let TWD Fans and your fans know?

I would love to say thank you to all of you. Thank you for 12 amazing years and even more to come with the spinoffs, the amount of love and support you’ve shown over the years for us is very much appreciated. I’ve never seen a tv show fan base as big as the walking dead and without all of us the show wouldn’t have been what it was. I look forward to getting to meet more of you at cons or social media.

- Thank you being my guest John Gettier and best wishes for the future. I hope to see you one day in Germany.
